Civil Engineering and PROTECT graduate students, Angel Anaya, Norma Torres, and Irmarie Cotto have been awarded with travel grants to to attend and present their work at the SACNAS 2013 National Conference, in San Antonio Texas. The students are currently working on their graduate degree in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering. Angel is a doctoral student and is working on characterizing fate and transport processes of contaminants in karst media. Norma is studying the effect of hydrologic conditions on distribution of contaminants in karst groundwater systems. Irmarie is developing technologies for detection and monitoring of emergent contaminants in the environment.
